Harold Ramis and Joe Longo – RIP

Just a quick word of respect for Joe Longo, who has recently passed away.

Mr Longo was a veteran prop master; I know him for his work on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and also on The Next Generation, and on Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and Star Trek III: The Search For Spock. Some of the props used in Deep Space Nine are instantly recognizable, forming a familiar part of the series’ continuity and texture. The main image above is of the Bajoran Orb of Wisdom; a beautiful piece of work.

Here are few more examples…

A device used by O’Brien in the episode ‘Whispers’.

A Cardassian phaser rifle.

A Starfleet phaser rifle.

And farewell to Harold Ramis; different people remember him for different things, but for me it’ll always be as Egon Spengler in Ghostbusters.

Harold Ramis as Egon; “the smart one”.

A happy part of our childhood (for most of us)…

Harold Ramis!??? Holy shit! I didn’t know he was gone. I remember finding out not that long ago that he was going to be making a return as Egon for Ghostbusters 3. Egon was always my favourite out of the bunch.
