This is probably the most important thing that will be posted on this site this year, so I would ask anyone here to read it all the way through and then draw your own conclusions.

The underlying theme that emerges from this article – which I have been putting together since December – is one of a possible international conspiracy behind the radical shifts in Western politics that may be occurring: that the perceived ‘rise of the Far Right’ across Western societies is not just a simple reactionary movement based on anti-immigration sentiment or refugee hysteria, but something more planned and with more obscured roots.

It is also a case of those simpler, more obvious things too, of course: there are multiple causes for the current wave of ‘populism’ and angry mobs. But it would fit this paradigm best to remember the quote by Dennis Healey about nothing in international politics happening by accident but being made to happen.

What follows in this article then is (1) what I conclude to be a demonstrable conspiracy, (2) some demonstration of what the connections are that support this conclusion, and (3) what the root of that conspiracy is and what its aim might be. (more…)

To conclude this series of posts anticipating the imminent change of residents at the White House, it is worth paying mind to the issue of foreign policy.

It’s funny how quickly the Trump campaign mantra of “drain the swamp” really, properly stopped being a thing.

Not that I ever thought it was a thing anyway; but Trump’s ‘movement’ hasn’t even taken office yet and has already exposed itself as a cabal of extremely wealthy banking and business interests, hawkish figures, evangelicals and – to be frank – a couple of psychopaths for good measure. (more…)

Last summer, when I first heard that a mysterious figure named ‘Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’ was being declared “the leader of all Muslims everywhere” by ‘Islamic State’ propagandists, it was one of the most disturbing things I had heard in a while.
There was only one figure in Islamic tradition that could make that claim of themselves and this is a figure rooted in Islamic prophecy concerning the End of the World. But there’s an explosive claim that has been circulating for many months now: that ISIL’s ‘leader’ and ‘caliph’, the elusive Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, might in fact be an Israeli Mossad agent.

The last remaining Christians in Northern Iraq have been forced into an exodus from their community’s traditional homes; victims of The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant – or ISIS, as they prefer to be called. It is being reported as the biggest mass movement of Christians in the Middle East since the First World War 100 years ago.
The Christian communities in Northern Iraq and in the city of Mosul (Biblical ‘Nineveh’, which is apparently the name ISIS prefers to use) have been there for nearly 1,600 years; pre-dating the advent of Islam. Like, of course, many of the Christian communities in the Middle East, they are among the very oldest and very earliest Christian communities in the world. Things have been getting suspiciously Biblical in Babylon (more on that later).
