You know, sometimes you start out with a simple question.

And you start exploring for possible answers to that question; only to end up falling down a deeper rabbit-hole than you had expected. Then you just end up with more questions.

A lot of coverage was given to Donald Trump’s decision apparently to announce withdrawal of US troops from Syria. My initial question was simply why the US President had suddenly announced this: and why the Defense Secretary James Mattis had resigned in response.

But instead this has become a much longer article, linking up everything from Syria, Libya and Africa to China, the possible nature of the ‘Trump vs China’ pantomime, possible groundwork for a future ‘New World Order’ control model and the ‘armies’ of the future, and even Cambridge Analytica.

As it happens, the reason is because one man – one machiavellian, enigmatic figure – appears to be a nexus connecting all of these seemingly disparate things. (more…)

I noticed something curious recently, nestled away in one of the newspapers: that the Chinese government has apparently banned the classic book 1984  by George Orwell.

There’s something that kind of speaks for itself when an oppressive government bans not just any old book, but something as specific as 1984. Orwell’s Animal Farm has also been banned, for that matter.

But it seems fairly obvious that a state that functions entirely along 1984 lines would eventually need to make sure its citizens don’t get to read 1984 and notice the similarities.

This is apparently part of a massive online censorship campaign. Clearly, either Orwell’s books have been getting too much attention in China or the authorities want to make sure they don’t get any attention – or both. Makes sense, of course – if you’ve built 1984 in real terms, you have to make sure your citizens don’t realise it or at least don’t have such a glaring frame of reference. (more…)

So Inauguration Day in Washington came across as a decidedly odd, even slightly unsettling, affair: which is perhaps the only fitting end-point for what has been a decidedly odd, even slightly unsettling, presidential race.
It also seemed to affirm my fears that we’re falling deeper into a bad place.

What was most striking about the scenes is how low-key, even grim, the mood and atmosphere was, feeling slightly more like a Soviet-style event than an American presidential inauguration. Something similar was noted by Russian chess legend Garry Kasparov recently in regard to Trump’s first press event. (more…)

A week now after the attacks in Paris that news broadcasters keep telling us has “changed the world forever”, it looks less and less likely that this was a straightforward ISIL terrorist attack and more likely that something much more sinister may have gone on.
And not just a staged, false-flag operation, but a pre-fabricated, mass Psy-Op designed to bring about radical changes and to shape or re-configure public perception and psychology.

“The truth is that ISIS was created in Iraq in 2006. It was the United States which occupied Iraq, not Syria. Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was in American prisons, not in Syrian prisons. So who created ISIS – Syria or the United States?”
This is a question asked by none other than Syria’s besieged President, Bashar Assad, in a highly telling interview conducted in the last fortnight. “We as Syrians,” he later says, “will never accept that Syria become a Western puppet state.”

Why is Israel bombing the Syrian Government…? A number of news sources reported on December 7th that Israeli warplanes attacked two separate areas close to Damascus, including a target at the city’s international airport.
This was reportedly the fifth unprovoked Israeli attack on Syria in the last eighteen months. Syria hasn’t declared war on Israel; neither has Israel formally announced war with Syria – these military assaults on Syria are therefore nothing less than a war crime.
