The Salisbury poisoning saga has gotten more and more confusing and uncertain as it has dragged on.

I don’t particularly even care: I’m just watching with baffled curiosity.

In the first instance, I expressed doubts about the story, on account of both the timing and the fact that Salisbury (and later Amesbury, where the secondary victims of the poisoning were) was so close to the MoD’s chemical warfare facility, Porton Down.

Even in that same article, however, I said that I also didn’t have any trouble believing that someone from the Russian state or Russian intelligence did poison the ex-KGB spy in Salisbury. I’ve never subscribed to the position held by a great many in counter-mainstream media realms: which basically seems to be that the Russian state is full of noble angels who can never, ever do anything dodgy.

As I said then, I tend to believe a number of assassinations of Russians abroad, including journalists, were sanctioned by the Russian state.

Putin himself was on record, from 2010, suggesting that any Russian traitors or defectors would be targeted at some time or another. (more…)

Another two people have been allegedly poisoned by the Soviet-era nerve-agent ‘Novichok‘, this time in Amesbury.

And Russia and England are both still in the 2018 World Cup, with just over a week left to go. Those probably seem like two unrelated statements: and maybe they are.

Then again, maybe not.

Regarding this latest alleged nerve-agent incident, the authorities have been careful not to be seen to jump to conclusions – so there has been no overt statement implicating Russia. And the media reports all suggest that the two individuals in question had nothing to do with Russia. (more…)

Am I the only one who can’t quite work out what happened last weekend in Syria or what it’s all supposed to mean?

That is, I can’t work out what the US-UK-France Triumvirate (the same Triumvirate that led the intervention against Gaddafi in Libya) was trying to do when it decided to carry out strikes against alleged chemical weapons locations in Syria.

It’s all been a bit confused. Which is one reason I haven’t commented on any of it until now. The other reason is that the night of the military action (Friday 13th) was the day I was burying my grandfather: and so I had no interest in writing anything or keeping track of events at that time.

But it also allowed me to delay or withhold opinion and just keep an unbiased eye on the news for a few days to see how things unfolded.

And I still haven’t entirely made sense of it. (more…)

And it is a pretty big rabbit-hole – based entirely on the location where this incident is said to have happened.

Which we will get to in a moment; and then you can decide for yourselves how relevant you think it is or isn’t. But first, let’s just do the basics.

In another month, I would’ve assumed or accepted that the poisoning of former Russian spy Sergei Skripal was – as we’re being told – a hit by Russian intelligence operatives.

My own personal opinion is still – and I know that this puts me at odds with most conspiracy theory writers – that Alexander Litvenenko was assassinated by Russian agents via pollonium poisoning. Most of what I’ve read over the years (from various sources) makes me inclined to lean towards that explanation. (more…)

This could actually be viewed as a follow-up to the post from a couple of weeks back on the Pentagon‘s ‘Nuclear Posture Review’ and the threat of another Hiroshima-like event in our lifetimes.

In that instance, I was highlighting the insanity of what the NPR proposed and noting the very worrying change in language concerning nuclear weapons.

A lot of attention has been paid to Vladimir Putin’s state of the nation address on Wednesday, which has been construed by most Western media as having been overtly threatening. In part of the speech, Putin announced the existence of Russia’s new, expanded nuclear weapons and capabilities, suggesting that Russia now has superior nuclear capabilities to the United States and NATO and is perfectly capable of handling any attack against it. With all the current talk and bluster concerning North Korea, nuclear weapons and possible war, the arrival of a massive drill/exercise in the US has excited the interest of a number of conspiracy theorists.

From April 18th right through to May 5th, a ‘major nuclear detonation drill’ has been widely reported, taking place in the New York/New Jersey area and apparently involving a number of federal, state and local organisations. Called ‘Operation Gotham Shield’, the exercise is said to involve 4 nuclear devices and is presented as a preparation/simulation of a nuclear incident. (more…)

Going to come out and say that the train blast in St Petersburg, Russia, is probably a (Russian) state-organised false-flag.

There is a tendency across most alternative media to refrain from suggesting such things when it concerns Russia and to limit suspicion only to the US, EU or British state activity when it comes to things like false-flags.

I, however, do not have a team or a side, and am therefore willing to call out Russian agencies just as much as I would American or French agencies in these kinds of circumstances. (more…)

donald-trump-30

That is to say, how he might accidentally save the world in his own bumbling, barely literate way.

I have no love for Donald Trump: he is a silly, self-worshiping, celebrity megalomaniac and a horrible misogynist, who has probably bitten off much more than he can chew.

And he may be America’s, and the Western world’s, best hope for achieving peace and averting a major military conflict. (more…)

With the extremely high possibility now of ‘President Hillary Clinton’, now seems a good time to anticipate what US foreign policy might look like under Hillary; and to recap some of the horror story of her foreign policy record to date.

Aside from the fact that she’s a proven liar, schemer and conspirator, and even putting aside the extent to which she is the President of choice for Wall Street, the bankers and financial institutions, the Israeli Lobby and the Neo-Con establishment, ‘President Hillary’ is a foreign-policy apocalypse waiting to happen.
